Findlodgings is changing!

We have decided to change the image and appeal of our site and have started to re-develop some of the look and feel.  The first phase of the improvements is in place now with these modified web pages.  In the near future there will be further enhancements implemented to make us one of the best room and property services on the internet.

Charges to come.

All of the continued changes, improved features and services are no longer possible without investment.  It is becoming increasingly more difficult to provide this service and at least cover running costs.  It is therefore with some regret that we have to announce that you will have to pay a small fee to use the service.

The exact form of the payment has not yet been decided.  There are many options open to us, to charge to advertise, to charge to read adverts, more interactive services or even a mixture of all options.  What we can say is that we are committed to bringing you the best services at minimum costs.  The service is currently free and we will announce in the near future what our plans are.

We are now called UK Rooms!

Part of the changes has included taking on a new domain name - ukrooms.com, which is in place and running now.  The site will now be known as UK Rooms but all the previous Findlodgings domain names will still either re-direct or mirror the UK Rooms domain.  There is no need to update any of your bookmarks, but stored cookies may not show your profile.  Logging on to the account centre and updating your advert will also update your cookie.

Correspondence is still going out using the findlodgings.com addresses, which will be changing shortly.

Faster Server and Database

We have moved the whole Findlodgings website onto the latest Windows 2000 Advanced Server to make use of the improved power and performance available on that platform.  This will result in faster, smoother page loading, improved database performance and immediate e-mail response.

We have also taken this opportunity to take advantage of our dot com address.  www.findlodgings.com will now be the main server, with www.findlodgings.co.uk now being re-directed.  Please take this opportunity to update your links and favourites.

Database linked options

We are constantly looking at ways to improve the service for both advertisers and tenants.  For 2002, we are linking the search options to the actual adverts on our database.  This will mean that you will only see hyperlinks and drop down menu's for counties and areas that actually have adverts.  An example of this is the search by county option on the left menu bar - it only contains counties that have adverts in our database!

We have enhanced our search options to include searching for lodgings by county.  Use the county chooser on the left menu or go to our search page.  Further details on our search options are on our home page.

As adverts are submitted to Findlodgings, an e-mail will be automatically sent to the address you supply, giving details of the advert and how to reply to it.
